RETREATS & TRAININGS
RETREATS & TRAININGS
The Earthsong Nature Retreat has been a secluded sanctuary on the island of Hawai’i for over 30 years hosting a variety of retreats and trainings. It invites an intimate and immersive experience in nature which serves as an ideal setting for those yearning for deep communion with the earth.
With both a temple space and a large yurt plus open space on silky grass, under the shade of trees or bathing in the ample sunlight this is an ideal environment for learning. Whether you’re here to study yoga, meditation, permaculture, art, the stars…this place supports expansion of consciousness.
Earthsong welcomes people from all ethnic, racial, social, and spiritual backgrounds to join and host retreats and trainings with us, with the agreement and understanding that coming here requires respect and reverence for the land and a willingness to make choices that lower our impact made on the environment.
In addition to group retreats we offer personally tailored private retreats for individuals, couples, and friends.
Far from the hustle and bustle, this is a place for your inner child to roam barefoot in the Earthsong forest. Adopting a child-like wonder is encouraged here.
The elemental forces are tranquil and peaceful while also stimulating and inspiring. It all depends on her mood, expressed in winds, rains, and rainbows.
The sweet & simple structures are built and weaved into nature in a way that lifts the veil between the human realm and the realm of magic, otherwise known as Nature.
Mornings are greeted with the songs of many birds and at night the frogs and toads lull us to sleep. Depending on where you are staying on the property you’ll catch sunrises over expansive views of the ocean or be tucked within the forest of fruit trees and tropical flowers. At anytime you could be joined by butterflies and dragonflies, chameleons or geckos.
The land’s transformative potency is amplified by how far-removed it is geographically from other land masses. Being on an island confronts you with the powerful and mysterious force of the ocean all around you. There is also no Wi-Fi on the property and all of the electronic power is coming from the sun (panels) or wind (turbine). This makes for a lessening of distractions and interference, allowing one to immerse themselves in what they came to experience.
Earthsong is located on the southern most tip of the largest island of Hawai’i surrounded by the ocean, active volcanoes, forests, waterfalls, and brimming with biodiversity. This part of the island has some of the best air quality in the world so we can breathe deep.
There are many beautiful spots to appreciate nature on this majestic island. Earthsong’s immediate surroundings include both black and green sand beaches, ancient forests, and a quaint community of farmers and homesteaders. We are happy to advise conscious ways to explore the island and to visit parts much less overvisited.
Food is medicine and an essential part to any retreat or training. We have access here to fresh produce, exotic fruit, and medicinal plants to nourish ourselves with. We enjoy sharing healthful meals with our guests that grew from the land or a neighbor’s land.
Earthsong is a Nature Retreat and an Earth Ashram:
- We revere Mother Earth as our primary Guide, Teacher, and Healer.
- All other teachers and teachings come alive in combination with the land’s wisdom and energy.
- We care for all of the land as a sacred temple.
- We request visitors to walk gently, quietly, and to listen to the Earth’s song.
We offer basic permaculture education to all of our retreat and training groups with both practical and theoretical learning. This is partially out of necessity for people who spend time on the property to understand the nature of off-grid and sustainable living. It also gives all visitors an opportunity to give back to the land that is holding them. This type of reciprocal engagement is rewarding on many levels. It not only rewards the one doing it but supports others who spend time on this land, as well as the land itself. Permaculture teaches living in harmony with nature as an extension of ourselves, an extension of the Divine. Life at an Earth Ashram is serving Nature in addition to healing with, learning from, and enjoying it.
In this video we documented a month long 300 hour Yoga & Permaculture Teacher Training. It is narrated by the participants and they give a glimpse into what it’s like to learn and live at Earthsong for a training or immersive retreat. When available we can offer this type of video documentary as an added service for training and retreat groups.

Yellow Submarine Kitchen: The Yellow Submarine kitchen's story is magical, of course! Upon diving deep into the many treasures hidden at EarthSong, the stewards discovered many artifacts of The Beatles which inspired them to honor their legacy when remodeling the communal kitchen. They displayed the artifacts and invited an artist to paint the walls with lyrics from the song "The Yellow Submarine" that invoke warmth and peace which is perfect for such a cozy space to hold many meals and gatherings! The mural includes koi fish and lotus flowers to match the beautiful pond which can be seen from the kitchen's lounge. The entire space is decorated with art collected in India, further adding to the nod to the Beatles who were heavily influenced by their journeys east. There's space for cooking, dining, and lounging while enjoying a snack, reading a book, sipping a hot beverage, playing an instrument, having an enlightening conversation, or simply being with the art and the sounds and sights of the surrounding EarthSong forest just outside the window.

Meal Plans for Retreats:
There is an option for us to provide vegetarian/vegan/gluten free meal plans for an additional charge. A large portion of ingredients are grown here on the farm or sourced from our neighbor’s farms, so the menu will be determined by what is in season. We tend to follow the Ayurveda approach to diet including light breakfasts and lunches, incorporating lots of medicinal spices and herbs, and a mix of raw and slow cooked meals.
Here are some sample meal options and eating schedule would include:
Tea made from medicinal herbs growing here such as moringa and tulsi with a piece of fresh fruit to start the day and fuel your morning practice.
Breakfast post morning practice: Fruit and vegetable Smoothies with papaya, banana, avocado, kale, spinach, plus added “crunchy” stuff to amp up the health of your smoothie: spirulina, chia and flax seeds. Fresh fruit plate served with oatmeal, muesli, and/or granola. Side of homemade nut butter.
Lunch: Fresh salad from the garden with arugula, kale, and spinach mixed with tomatoes, carrots, and cabbage served with a homemade dressing. Raw green papaya salad served with peanut sauce. Avocado toast and a cup of butternut squash soup.
Dinner: Vegetable curry including many spices, fresh veggies and coconut milk served with mung beans or green lentils.
BBQ Jackfruit Stew.
* Deserts including homemade fruit pies, rice/chia pudding, and raw chocolates upon request.
* Snacks such as dehydrated fruits and our homemade nut butter can be purchased a la carte.
If you are a retreat/event host and would like to bring your own chef or cook for your event you can use our communal kitchen and all the supplies/tools that come with it plus some of our fresh produce and herbs.
